A total of 33 students in Years 7-10 have just returned from an exhilarating five-day Outward Bound experience to Watermillock in Cumbria. This year, due to the popularity of the trip and the increased demand for places, we took more students than ever.

Three of our Sixth Form Music students have received letters of praise from the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company for their support in the recent Primary Shakespeare Festival.

Last term, students in Key Stage 3 were treated to a fun learning experience when the Punctuation Show visited King James. The roadshow is designed to improve overall English skills and confidence in the use of correct punctuation and grammar.

This month we hosted the Porrajmos (Por-ry-mus) Exhibition, which looks at the holocaust from the perspective of children and young people. The exhibition is designed to raise awareness about the issues of prejudice towards Gypsies and Travellers, a minority group often not considered when studying the holocaust.

Here at King James, we work hard to strengthen our contacts with local engineering companies to help promote interest in engineering as a career and to increase opportunities for our students.

As part of our extensive programme of STEM activities, students in Year 7 have been designing and building a motor-powered car.

On March 23rd, hundreds of our students took part in a giant Mexican wave to help raise money for Sport Relief 2018. The spectacular event was organised by Year 9 students who are all members of the Academy Council.

Year 7 students from King James have been involved in bringing William Shakespeare's work to life as part of a prestigious national project run by The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC).

Students in Year 8 at King James have been learning how religion can have an influence on people's identities.

Celebrated each year on March 14th (3.14), Pi Day is dedicated to the mathematical constant. First recognised 30 years ago in 1988 by Physicist Larry Shaw, Pi Day observers celebrate in different ways.
