Showing support for local and national charities is an important part of Academy life at King James and a full programme of activities and events are organised throughout the year to raise funds.

In September, each year group chooses a specific charity to support, and activities are planned to raise money which is donated at the end of the academic year when the Academy has final totals. Last year, students chose to support The Angel Trust, School of Sanctuary, The Glove Project, If U Care, Share, and The GO! Project, a new in-house charity which creates equal opportunities for students from low income households by subsidising school trips.

The Academy also supports a number of charities including Macmillan, Make a Wish, the Poppy Appeal, Teenage Cancer Support, Children in Need, Feeding Families, West Auckland Food Bank, MIND and Comic Relief.

Phoebe Hogarth, Director of Learning for Art and Fundraising Co-ordinator at the Academy said, “Our students, their families and our staff are always extremely generous when it comes to fundraising, and despite the financial challenges faced by many due to the cost of living crisis, this year has been no exception. We are so proud to have supported so many worthy causes and in the last year alone, we have donated £11, 463.55. This brings our total for the last two years to over £26,000!”
