Warren received his Amazon Fire tablet from Mr Whitehead.
As the winner of a special competition run by King James I Academy, 10-year-old Warren Hunt from Witton Park was delighted to be presented with an Amazon Fire tablet by Academy Headteacher, Simon Whitehead.
King James recently welcomed over 900 visitors to its annual Year 6 Open Evening event, including Warren and his Mum. Visitors were invited to take part in a variety of learning activities as they travelled around the school, gathering the signatures of teachers on a competition card as they did so. Warren’s card was drawn at random from the post box at the end of the evening.
Warren said, “I had a brilliant time at King James and can’t wait to come here when I’m old enough. I tried lots of activities and had so much fun, but my favourite departments were Biology, where I got to dissect and study the structure of sheep lungs, and Food Technology where I got to taste the food that students were making, and it was really good. Everyone was so friendly, and when I found out I had won the competition, that just made everything even better!”
Mr Whitehead said, “We work hard to create a learning environment that provides a balance of structured lessons and creative learning activities, delivered by teachers who are skilled at engaging with young people. It’s great to hear that visitors to our Open Evening, just like Warren and his Mum, were able to experience just a little of what we offer every day.”
