Eight students in Year 11 have enjoyed a day at Kynren: The Storied Lands thanks to funding they secured in a bid to The Key. The Key is a charitable organisation which gives young people the opportunity bid for funds to organise their own activities.

King James introduced The Key+ Challenge last year as an extra-curricular opportunity for all students, and as a result, over 50 students in years 7-12 have successfully received funding to pay for trips to the cinema, bowling, museums, various restaurants, escape rooms and more. The trip to Kynren was the most recent.

A team of four students successfully applied for funding for themselves and four friends to visit Kynren: The Storied Lands, the new live action daytime attraction which opened to the public this year. The group enjoyed the live shows and opportunities to learn about Medieval Knights, Vikings, Victorians and the Lambton Worm. They also marvelled at The Lost Feather, an arena show featuring over 250 birds flying overhead.

The scheme will continue for 2026/27 academic year with opportunities for many more students to form teams and take part in The Key+ Challenge during lunch time and after school sessions.
