The Academy reopens for teaching on Thursday 03 September 2026 for all students
This year, students in Years 10 and 11 with a passion for food and cooking will have free access to an exciting new extra-curricular opportunity delivered by King James in partnership with The Auckland Project and Bishop Auckland College.
The Catering Academy is an exciting new initiative that brings education and industry together to create a truly unique learning experience. This innovative collaboration combines the strengths of all partners to provide high-quality training, meaningful real-world experience, and clear progression routes into apprenticeships and careers within the hospitality sector. By working together, we can help students develop the skills, confidence, and professionalism needed to succeed; this will support them as they take their first steps towards a rewarding future in catering. As part of the initiative, students will be able to get authentic, hands on hospitality training in realistic settings including the McIntyre Centre and El Castillo tapas bar.
