Year 8 student, Casey F has received a special award at the Bishop Auckland Town Council Youth Awards 2026. This annual event recognises the outstanding achievements of young people across Bishop Auckland.

From inspiring acts of kindness and community spirit, to sporting success, creativity, leadership and incredible personal resilience, nominees prove that a range of talent and determination exists within our young community.

Casey was nominated for the Young Carer Award, which was sponsored by Kynren, to recognise the kindness, compassion and level of maturity beyond her years she demonstrates as a member of a family who provide foster care for children in need of a temporary family. Over the past 15 months, Casey has shared her personal space and time without complaint, and worked hard to make children feel welcome and safe in her home.
